The Improv Leadership Summit is the space for the best and brightest improv leaders to share their knowledge and experience. Together we exchange our best practices and offer solutions to hurdles for the betterment of our community.

ALRINTHEA CARTER is an Emmy-nominated comedy writer (Yo Gabba GabbaLand!, A Black Lady Sketch Show), photographer, and improviser based in Los Angeles, CA. She has studied improv and sketch comedy on stages across the country, including Alchemy Comedy Theater, The Second City, and The Pack Theater, and currently serves on the Board of Improv Utopia. When not writing or making up stuff on stage, she is an obsessive plant mom and Kitchen DJ. Her patron saint is and will always be Prince.

Kat-Kopett

KAT KOPPETT is the Eponymous Founder of Koppett. a consultancy specializing in the use of improv and storytelling techniques to enhance individual and group performance. She is the author of Training to Imagine: Practical Improvisational Theatre Techniques to Enhance Creativity, Teamwork, Leadership and Learning, and the co-author of i with Therese Miclot. Her diverse client list includes  Apple, Prezi, PwC, NASA, Global Giving, the U.N. and Havas Health. Kat is the co-director and a performing member of the Mopco Improv Theatre, a founding member of the Applied Improvisation Network, and an ITI certified improvisation instructor.

MARK SUTTON has been performing and teaching improvisation for nearly three decades. In 16 years with The Second City, he has been a performer, director and teacher in both Chicago and Toronto. For the past 8 years, Sutton has traveled the world with Second City Works bringing the joyful work of improvisation to the corporate and academic world as an actor, event host and facilitator. His clients include GE Healthcare, Major League Baseball, McDonalds and Yahoo. In addition to The Second City, Sutton is a founding member of Chicago’s acclaimed Annoyance Theatre, and he has taught and performed in comedy venues and festivals across North America.

STEPHANIE RAE is a full-time applied improv practitioner, freestyle rap artist, and corporate facilitator who has taught and performed for groups from Louisiana to Liverpool. As the founder and Creative Director of the Black Improv Alliance and a Creative Director at freestyle+, she has designed and led workshops for corporate teams at YouTube, S.C. Johnson, and New York Comic Con, and more – blending humor, structure, and purpose to enhance communication, collaboration, and adaptability. She has guest played with Baby Wants Candy, North Coast, the Groundlings, Free Daps, and the Tony Award-winning Freestyle Love Supreme, and even earned a hug and compliment from Beyoncé herself. A passionate advocate for diverse representation in improv, Stephanie has created scholarships and free programming for hundreds of BIPOC improvisers. She is also an academically published author and former college professor with a law degree from Georgetown – although she mostly uses it to win arguments online.

WILL LUERA is the former Director of Improvisation at Florida Studio Theatre, Director of Big Bang Improv, serves as the Artistic Director Emeritus of ImprovBoston. He is the co-creator of Healing Moments for Alzheimer’s, a non-profit organization that provides education, advocacy, and ministry for persons with dementia and their caregivers. He is a conflict mediator with a focus on EDIA issues in the workplace. He is the former Simulation Coordinator for Real Academy, who specialize in immersive simulation training for human helpers, offering a profound opportunity to further integrate improvisation into impactful training methodologies. He sits on the boards of CreArte Latino, a Latino-centric cultural community center in the Sarasota area and Miss Sarasota Softball, an organization focused on empowering young women through educational-athletic programs. Will also was a part of the 2022 cohorts of Leadership Sarasota and Art Equity and the 2023 cohort of the Gulf Coast Leadership Institute. Will tours globally as an improv comedy actor, instructor, director and performs and teaches regularly all across North America, South America, Europe and Asia.

Author, Directing Improv

ASAF RONEN is the Director of Programming & Services at Austin Creative Alliance, an arts service where he helps to connect artists and arts organizations to resources, to help them scaffold and scale up their work, and to generally make their artistic practice more sustainable. Essentially, he’s a life coach for artists. Asaf has been involved in improvisational theater and comedy since 1990 in New York City and is author of Directing Improv: Show the Way by Getting Out of the Way. After moving to Austin in 2007, he served as Education Director at The Institution Theater and the Conservatory Director at Coldtowne Theater. He currently runs his own improv school, The Seed, which is focused on individual growth and innovation. Asaf is also a Producer and Education Director of the annual Out of Bounds Comedy Festival and a producer on Trust Us This Is All Made Up, a documentary on legendary improvisers TJ & Dave that premiered at SxSW in 2009. Asaf has led applied improvisation sessions at conferences for NBA mascots, Presbyterian ministers and at several companies including Dell, Apple Inc., Progressive, Retail Me Not, and more with a focus on developing brainstorming and communication skills and has worked with Rooster Teeth Productions to help their creative team expand their tools. He has taught performance-based improvisation classes in Canada, the United Kingdom, Norway and in 30 U.S. states.

TAURI LAWS-PHILLIPS, CEO of Austin100.  She is a former partner at Andreessen Horowitz and former improv theater owner. Tauri is an expert in the startup space having worked with over 200 founders across tech and consumer goods. With over 15 years of improv experience, Tauri has performed in shows and festivals all over the country, headlining with Damn Gina in Baltimore at the Charm City Festival and Second City’s LA Diversity in Comedy Festiva. In 2017 she developed an improv based diversity and belonging training. To date she has taught nearly 300 workshops in 3 countries. Her notable shows are SuperBlack, Bigfoot the Musical and The Meninist.
